Lake Champlain is one of the best fisheries in North America and fishing through the ice in North Hero is very rewarding . The most frequently caught fish are perch, blue gill, northern pike and the occasional walleye. The ice fishing season is between January 15 and March 15. The North Hero House has partnered with a local expert to provide our guests with a turn-key ice fishing adventure while enjoying the fine accomodations and excellent cuisine offered by the North Hero House. We’ll even cook your catch if you present your cleaned fish to the chef.
- Ice Fishing Shanty Rentals: $75/day (wood supplied for wood stoves in shanty)
- Tip-Up Rental Package: $30/day (includes 8 tip ups, jig stick, hand auger)
- Ice fishing guides are available during the winter months. Ice Fishing Guide Trips available with advanced notice.
- The ice fishing location is a five minute drive from the inn and has a bait and tackle shop with live bait, ice fishing supplies and ice shanty rentals.
