The North Hero House Country Inn and Restaurant is a historic bed and breakfast located in the Lake Champlain Islands of
northern Vermont with a spectacular view of the Green Mountains and Mount Mansfield. 

The 26 room inn is open May through November and is ideal for vacations, weddings and conferences. Built in 1891 when guests arrived by steamship, the inn was beautifully restored in 1997, with antiques and modern conveniences required by today’s travelers. AAA has given the inn its 3 diamond rating. 

Situated in the quaint New England town of North Hero, Vermont, the inn is located on Route 2 within easy reach of Burlington, Shelburne, Stowe, The Grand Isle Ferry, Plattsburgh, and Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

Activities

The North Hero House is open May through November and offers a multitude of activities and attractions for vacationing guests. Lake Champlain provides an endless source of enjoyable things to do. In the summer time swimming and relaxing at the inn's sandy beach is unforgettable. The water is warm and clear. Reclining chairs abound and the floating swim platform is an attractive destination for good swimmers of all ages. In the spring and fall, a brisk swim can be followed by a visit to the inn's lakeside jacuzzi.

Bird watching and nature walks in the spring, summer and fall is outstanding.  Learn more about the island's bird population. The lake offers great boating. sailboat, sea kayak, canoe and power boat rentals are available at the Waterfront shop.  Slips are available for guest-owned water craft at the inn's sheltered marina ($30.00 per day for overnight stays).  The angler will be challenged in all seasons. Legendary fishing for bass, northern pike and walleye is awaiting.

Golf and tennis are nearby as well. The inn is a member of a local tennis club where hard courts are available to NHH guests. An 18 hole golf course is 10 minutes away. Biking the islands is marvelous: great water views, lots of flat terrain and beautiful countryside.

Area attractions include Burlington, University of Vermont, the summer home of the White Lipizzan stallions, St. Michael's College Playhouse, the Shelburne Museum and St. Anne's Shrine.

Dining at The North Hero House is a truly memorable experience. Our widely acclaimed restaurant features Vermont farm-fresh ingredients, Maine seafood, steaks, homemade desserts and creative daily specials. Our staff is caring, professional and always accommodating. The glass encased front porch offers spectacular views of Lake Champlain and The Green Mountains. .  

Our beautiful colonial dining room is warm and spacious with traditional Vermont country decor. The Greenhouse is warmed by a fireplace and is perfect for private parties and corporate entertaining. Location

North Hero House is located in the town of North Hero on Route 2 in the beautiful Lake Champlain Islands of northern Vermont. It is within easy reach of Burlington (Burlington International Airport), Shelburne, Stowe, The Grand Isle Ferry, Plattsburgh, and Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

Directions

From Burlington, Vermont:

Take I-89 North to exit 17, then Rte. 2 West to North Hero. Distance 34 miles.

From Montreal, Quebec:

Take 15 South, cross border, take Rte.11 East to Rouses Point, then Rte.9 North
(a short distance), then Rte. 2 East to North Hero. 
Distance 60 miles.

From New York City:

Take I-87 North to Plattsburgh, then Rte. 3 to Cumberland Head Ferry, cross to islands, then 314 North, then Rte.2 West to North Hero.
Distance 325 miles.

From Boston, Massachusetts:

Take I-93 North, then I-89 North to exit 17, then Rte.2 West to North Hero.
