This is a great way to see some wildlife native to the islands. Most of these walks have wonderful trails that are along the lake for all or portions of the path. Pack a picnic lunch and enjoy it on one of the beaches you encounter!
- Pelot’s Point Wildlife Area
- Station Road, North Hero- Turn right out of NHH driveway. First right is station road. Follow down to the lake and continue on. Park is on the left.
- Knight Point State Park
- Turn right out of NHH driveway, South end of North Hero, right on US Route 2
- North Hero State Park
- 3803 Lakeview Drive, North Hero http://www.vtstateparks.com/htm/northhero.cfm
- Take a left out of NHH driveway. Bear right on Lakeview Drive. Continue on to the end. Park is on the left.
- Grand Isle State Park
- 36 East Shore South Rd, Grand Isle http://www.vtstateparks.com/htm/grandisle.cfm
- Take a right out of NHH driveway. Follow Route 2 to Grand Isle. Park is on the left just before you reach South Hero.
- Burton Island
- Island Farm Nature Trail- Ferry Leaves from Kill Kare State Park in St. Albans Bay http://www.vtstateparks.com/htm/burton.cfm
- Captain Holly provides a ferry service to Burton Island from NHH Marina. Call 802-373-0022
- Mud Creek Wildlife Area

- Take a left out of NHH driveway. Continue on Route 2 to Alburgh. Take a right on Route 78. Area is on the left hand side 1/2 mile down.
